iPhone and iPod Touch Card Counting Applications

The news spread like wildfire after iPhone users in an Indian casino in California were caught using the new card counting applications on their mobile units.

While the act of card counting is not illegal; the use of devices to aid in card counting is. To date, it is unclear if these persons have been charged with any crimes. However, if these devices are used in any establishment that participates in or organizes casino gambling, the users will be arrested

Most casinos discourage the use of cell phones at live table games; some even ban it completely. A word of caution to those of you who use either of these Apple applications: If you decide to visit a land-based Casino, please be sure to power off your phone and keep it off before you sit to the table.
